Welcome to New St. Cloud City, home of powerful heroes and deadly villains. Scientist David Boxworth has high hopes for his newest invention - a powerful energy generator - but the results of the live demonstration are explosive. Who will escape the blast zone, and what will David search for first in the wreckage, his prized Ultranaut armor - or his only son?
Unsecret Identity: Eric Icarus - Book One, my first full-length novel, has officially launched and I’d be more ecstatic about releasing my passion project into the world - if I wasn’t sick. So, a healing factor isn’t one of my superhuman abilities, but despite the lack of fanfare, I am beyond proud to see my title take flight. The story will do the soaring while I rest in bed.
In a city of heroes with super-suits, fourteen-year-old Eric’s powers are the real deal—he can fly, or rather, he must. He literally can’t stop. As if high school wasn’t hard enough.
Tech mogul Baron Maddox takes Eric under his wing and transforms him into Eric Icarus, the newest—and maskless—addition to the Super Society, legendary defenders of the city. Equipped with his trusty decoy anti-gravity backpack, Eric is able to pose as just another costumed crusader without becoming a lab rat. Overnight, Eric finds himself catapulted into a world of action, adventure, and suspense, as he battles villains and saves the day with his incredible flying ability. Eric's inventor father keeps a wary eye on him, remembering all too well the shadow that Baron Maddox once cast over their lives.
Will Eric rise as the hero the city needs, or will his own story take a darker turn? Get ready for an intense ride because Eric Icarus is about to take flight.
Eric is a shy fourteen-year-old who may as well be invisible - an outcast among outcasts. Gifted with the miraculous ability to fly, Eric feels the need to hide more than ever. The best way to avoid suspicion? Hide in plain flight. Maskless, Eric has liftoff as a flying superhero, letting the world think he gets his astonishing power from a backpack. As long as he wears his decoy any-grav pack, Eric is free to fly, which he must do, for if he stays grounded too long, a mysterious pain strikes his body.
Unsecret Identity has been one of those ideas floating around in my head since I was a kid, and it is surreal to see it take shape as real novel (well, ebook). This book is the type of story I love, and I am excited for younger readers to discover it. Eric’s journey focuses on the highs of finding yourself while having fun with new friends, and the the lows that come with being a teenager struggling to navigate through life. This book is clean but that simply means it is accessible to readers of all ages. No swearing, nothing overly sexual - this book is aimed to be pure, fun adventure with authentic emotion.
Even with my grand plans of more stories yet to be written, going the indie route and putting out Eric Icarus is a special accomplishment. It is the culmination of years of work and countless hours of self-doubt. Yes, there is a lot more work left to be done, but having my story spread its wings is a good feeling - despite my body feeling like Eric when he hasn’t flown in a while (i.e., my weakness isn’t a meteor rock from my home planet, it’s the flu).
