Unsecret Identity: Eric Icarus - Book One follows three main POV character chapters - mainly Eric Boxworth aka Eric Icarus, Jaycee Maddox aka Powerhouse, and David Boxworth, blackballed inventor and one-man CEO/President/pretty much everything of the fledgling tech company, Boxworth Dreamineering. Of course, the story features several other supporting characters that each possess their own unique traits and quirks. Eric and Jaycee’s fellow teenage superhero members of the team of costumed defenders known as the Super Society all have opportunities in the YA sci-fi novel to showcase their own personalities and tendencies. Tiffany Sneeder aka Extra exudes her signature style in droves.
When we meet Tiffany, she is presented as the resident queen of mean with her entourage of girls in tow. Newly transferred to New St. Cloud High, Tiffany wasted little time establishing her dominance over the ninth grade popular clique. She also takes glee in antagonizing classmate Jaycee who happens to be her sister - on paper, anyway. Jaycee’s father, Baron, is a wealthy tech tycoon who fosters orphaned kids, and legally adopted a group of special teenagers, all in the same grade. Jaycee may not always love the idea of a few fellow students living in her father’s luxurious skyscraper in the heart of the city, but they’re technically, legally, sometimes begrudgingly, family.
Tiffany gleefully welcomed the posh lifestyle associated with being part of the adoptee program sponsored by Baron’s company, Pantheon Solutions. Not only did this upheaval from her orphanage life bring her access to credit cards and designer fashion, but it also led to Tiffany becoming the superhero known as Extra.
Equipped with a cybernetic harness, Extra is able to project holographic duplicates of herself that she is able to control. Imperceptible nanites swarm within the three-dimensional replicants, creating the illusion of “hard light.” With a phalanx of these tiny automatons bunching together, they can mimic the shape of a fist, covered under the photons emitted from Extra’s chest-projector. As a bundle of these miniature robots cluster together, it makes it appear as if Extra’s holographic clones are able to punch out bad guys - all while striking a pose.
Tiffany enjoyed the attention of being the new girl on the team until Eric Boxworth showed up. After a chance encounter in David’s lab, Baron takes Eric under his wing, mentoring the gifted boy. Eric eventually joins the Super Society, much to the dismay of Tiffany. Never one to miss a shot at a snide remark, Tiffany will jab at her teammates/siblings, but when the chips are down, Extra will make it a fair fight no matter how many enemies stand in their way.
