2025 Goals
New year, new releases
2024 saw many goals realized and several more set for the following year. The highlight of this past year was the release of the paperback edition of Unsecret Identity: Eric Icarus - Book One, a culmination of multifarious efforts. Though the ebook version had been released in the early fall of 2023, the printed edition unlocked numerous new opportunities including attracting readers who prefer a tangible item. I’m appreciative of anyone who enjoys any of the books formats but there is something undeniably satisfying about holding the physical object—it feels real because it is. The production of the printed edition of the novel also paved the way for new projects to come.
The book’s development established physical and digital infrastructure that has and will make future publications much easier to create. Formatting the initial print book brought its fair share of trial and error, proving, at least for me, that the learning process never truly ends. The education didn’t stop at pagination and content alignment, this year also broadened my design skills. Developing merch from concept to a final product was immensely rewarding, but there was much more to making stickers and bookmarks. Finding and understanding which online services were best for me also took time. Now that I have set up my Payhip store and Teepublic shop, the ability to put signed book copies and other collectible items is ready to roll. The pathways have been established, which makes it simpler to focus on more exciting endeavors.
2025’s goals sound basic enough - record an audiobook version of Unsecret Identity, release Eric Icarus - Book Two, and come out with more short stories that take place in the Eric Icarus Mythos. Okay, so it sounds like a lot of work because it will be. Daunting as these projects may be, it is an invigorating prospect. Perhaps the most thrilling is the potential release of a new full-length novel outside the world of Eric Icarus.
